a wedding guide for the unconventional & unapologetic
Weddings don’t have to follow a formula. The truth is, there’s no “right” way to get married—only your way. Whether you’re planning a laid-back elopement, an intimate micro wedding, or a small celebration with your closest people, your wedding should reflect what matters most to you.
As someone who had a non-traditional Vegas elopement (and then a micro-reception for friends and family 5 months later), I know firsthand how freeing it is to ditch the expectations and focus on what truly feels right. That’s why I’m here—not just to photograph your day, but to help make the entire experience feel seamless, stress-free, and uniquely yours.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about working with me as your photographer, from the first inquiry to receiving your final gallery and ordering prints. Let’s create something beautiful together! Your love, your way.
your step-by-step wedding photography guide
step 1: inquiry & booking your date
The first step in working together is reaching out through my inquiry form to tell me about your wedding plans. Whether you already have everything planned or are just starting to figure things out, I’m here to help. I focus on elopements, micro weddings, and intimate celebrations, so if that sounds like your kind of wedding, let’s connect and see if we’re the right fit.
After receiving your inquiry, we’ll chat over email and/or set up a time to video call or even meet for coffee if you’re local. This is an opportunity for us to go over your vision, discuss details like deliverables & payment plans, and make sure we’re aligned on expectations. If I feel like another photographer would be a better fit for your wedding, I’ll happily recommend someone I trust.
For couples who want extra coverage or multiple perspectives, a second shooter can be added to your package. A second photographer allows us to capture different angles of key moments, like your ceremony or first look, and ensures that we don’t miss any details. If I feel that a second shooter is essential based on your wedding plans, I’ll let you know during the inquiry stage.
Once you’re ready to move forward, securing your date is simple. A signed contract and deposit officially book your wedding on my calendar, and from there, we move on to the fun part—planning!
step 2: planning & pre-wedding support
Once your date is booked, we’ll start working through the details of your wedding photography experience. I'll send you at least one questionnair in the months before your wedding so that we can go over every little thing. Every wedding is unique, and I’m here to provide guidance on timelines, lighting considerations, and location planning to ensure your day is beautifully documented. I’ll make sure everything is planned so that your wedding day feels effortless and stress-free!
If your wedding takes place across multiple locations, we’ll go over the logistics to make sure travel time is accounted for. If you're planning a more adventurous or non-traditional wedding, we’ll discuss what that means for your photography coverage and how to make it work seamlessly.
While my approach is documentary-inspired and focused on natural interactions, weddings always include formal portraits. We'll put together a must-have shot list for these photos and figure out where in the wedding timeline we'll fit the formals in. If you have other photos that you'd love to see in your gallery, we'll add them to the list!
Your questionnaire will also give you the opportunity to share how I can best support you on your wedding day. If there’s anything you’re feeling nervous about, whether it’s certain moments, logistics, or family dynamics, this is a space to let me know. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, heard, and supported throughout the entire process. Whatever you need, I’m on your team!

step 3: your wedding day (or days!)
Your wedding day should feel like a celebration, not a production. My goal is to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere where you can fully immerse yourself in the moment while I take care of documenting it.
Throughout the day, I’ll be capturing everything from candid, unscripted moments to intentional portraits that showcase your love story. Whether we’re photographing quiet, emotional exchanges or wild, joy-filled celebrations, I’ll be there to document it all as it unfolds.
Whether you’re getting married in an intimate backyard ceremony, an industrial city loft, or a remote outdoor location, I’ll be there to capture your wedding day authentically and without pressure.
Examples of things we might document:
- Getting Ready - Documenting the final moments before the ceremony, from small details to emotional interactions with your loved ones
- First Look – A private moment between the couple before the ceremony
- Ceremony – From walking down the aisle to the first kiss and everything in between
- Family & Group Portraits – Formal and candid group photos with your family, wedding party, and special guests
- Couple Portraits – Intimate, romantic photos of just the two of you
- Cocktail Hour – Guests mingling, enjoying drinks, and celebrating before the reception
- Reception – From grand entrances and speeches to first dances and cake-cutting
- Dancing & Party Moments – Capturing the energy, laughter, and joy of the celebration
- Candid & Documentary Coverage – Unscripted moments throughout the entire day
step 4: after the wedding – editing & gallery delivery
Once the wedding is over, my real work begins! I take great care in selecting and editing each image to reflect the mood and emotions of the day. My editing style is natural and true to life, ensuring that your photos feel timeless and authentic.
Within a few days, you’ll receive a small selection of sneak peek images so you can relive the magic while I complete the full gallery. Your final collection of fully edited images will be delivered within four to six weeks through a private, password-protected online gallery. This gallery makes it easy to download, share, and relive your wedding day at any time.
If you’re interested in printing a custom wedding album, this is the time to start designing one. You’ll have the option to order high-quality prints, framed artwork, and albums directly through your gallery for a seamless experience.
printing & preserving your wedding photos
Your wedding photos deserve to be more than just files on a screen. Whether you want to create a luxury wedding album, frame a favorite portrait, or design a unique keepsake, printing your images ensures that your memories will be enjoyed for years to come.
I offer professional-quality prints, wall art, and albums directly through your gallery, making it easy to order without worrying about file sizes, color accuracy, or print quality. If you’d rather create your own album, I can guide you through designing a photo book through a trusted third-party printer.
For couples who want a fully custom-designed wedding album, I offer album design services. Whether you choose a classic, hardcover book or a premium layflat album, I’ll work with you to create something beautiful and timeless.
However you choose to display your wedding photos, I’m here to help you preserve them in a way that feels meaningful to you.
wedding photography packages
I believe wedding photography should be simple, transparent, and free from unnecessary markups. That’s why my packages are based on time, allowing you to choose the level of coverage that best fits your day. Whether you’re planning a quick elopement, an intimate micro wedding, or a multi-day celebration, my focus is on capturing your love story exactly as it unfolds—without pressure or expectation.
All packages include high-resolution, fully edited images delivered in a private, password-protected online gallery, where you can download, share, and order professional-quality prints and albums. If your wedding includes multiple locations, I’ll work with you to plan the best coverage, ensuring we document everything that matters most to you.
While I rarely accept weddings with more than 50 guests, I’m always happy to discuss your plans. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll connect you with another photographer whose work and approach align with your vision. Your wedding should be about what feels right for you, and I’m here to make sure that philosophy carries through in the way your story is documented.

get a second shooter
Adding a second photographer is an excellent way to ensure more moments, more angles, and more perspectives are captured throughout your day. A second shooter is especially useful for:
- Capturing both partners getting ready at different locations.
- Providing multiple angles of key moments like the ceremony and first dance.
- Ensuring candid moments with guests are documented while the main photographer focuses on the couple.
Second photographers are available at $85-100 per hour, depending on the specifics of your coverage needs. If I feel that adding a second shooter to my team is essential based on your wedding plans, I’ll let you know during our consultation. If travel fees apply to your session, those costs will be adjusted to cover my second shooter’s travel expenses.
travel & destination weddings
For weddings outside Hamilton, ON, I offer national and international photography packages. Travel fees will be discussed based on your wedding’s location and will cover my basic expenses, including:
- Transportation – Whether by car, train, or flight, costs will be calculated based on distance.
- Flights – If air travel is required, we’ll arrange flights that align with your wedding timeline.
- Accommodation – For weddings requiring overnight stays, hotel or lodging costs will be included in the quote.
- Meals & Daily Expenses – Basic food costs will be factored into destination wedding pricing.
- If you’re planning a destination wedding or an elopement outside Ontario, reach out to discuss a custom package tailored to your plans.
These add-ons allow you to fully customize your photography experience, ensuring that every meaningful moment is beautifully documented. If you’re interested in any of these options, let’s chat about how we can build the perfect package for you.
Your wedding day should feel like you—not what tradition or the wedding industry tells you it should be. Whether you’re exchanging vows in the middle of a forest, at city hall, in a backyard, or at a drive-thru chapel in Vegas, I’m here to document it your way.
