Wondering when to get newborn photos done? Do them as soon as possible! If you can, aim for those first few weeks. If you can't, try to get your newborn photos done within that first month.

We did these photos at my client's home 5 days after their baby was born. It's much easier for most new parents to have their photographer come to either their home or the hospital instead of trying to get their newborn to a photo studio for a specific time slot.

Newborn photo sessions typically only take one hour.

We may recommend a 2-hour session if more than 4 people (pets included!) are being photographed, if you have more than 1 little one running around, or if there is a particular part of your routine that you want to be documented.

For newborn photos, I typically recommend that we do photos in a favourite outfit or two and also some in diapers. There are so many little details—flaky skin, fuzzy hairs, tiny wrinkles—that are much easier to document during bathing, feeding, skin-to-skin time, or when wrapped up in a blanket.

I'll also bring a couple of special outfits from my client closet in case we want to play around with them.
